A pragmatic, personable and energetic HR leader with an appetite for new challenges, Howard specialises in managing business transition and organisation change.
Since 2008 Howard has provided HR interim management and consultancy services. In his previous positions he had recruited many interims in a variety of roles and saw how a good interim could really make a difference in a short period of time. He focuses on undertaking senior HR interim roles, either to deliver specific projects or as the head of the HR function, helping organisations make tough and innovative changes as they transform the way public services are delivered.
As an interim Howard displays the self-motivation, self-confidence and the ability to quickly assimilate situations that are vital in such a role. He has the ability to apply his previous experience and knowledge within the context and culture of the organisation he works for at any given time. Howard exemplifies the old maxim that an interim has to ‘hit the ground running’.
As an HR Lounge Associate, in 2013 Howard worked with the London Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) where he was responsible for the delivery of an organisation-wide restructure, enabling the delivery of the Mayor’s Police and Crime Plan for London and providing the organisation with an effective operational HR service. His achievements there included supporting the relocation of MOPAC to City Hall and getting a 20% reduction on staff costs.
In his most recent HR Lounge assignment for the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) he managed a senior management restructure and delivered it six weeks ahead of schedule and developed the IPCC's first People Strategy.
Howard has also led interim projects for a range of local authorities where his track record of delivering efficiency savings, managing change, reducing absences and negotiation skills has met the needs of his clients.
Howard joined the HR Lounge in 2013.
